International monitors have begun verifying results from Haiti's disputed presidential election last month.

A team of legal and electoral experts from the Organization of American States expects the process to take several days.

Preliminary results of the November 28 election had former first lady Mirlande Manigat with 31 percent of the vote, and ruling party candidate Jude Celestin with 22 percent.

The third place candidate, singer Michel Martelly, has challenged the early results, alleging fraud.

Haitian officials hope to resolve any discrepancies about the vote. The top two vote getters advance to a runoff election on January 16.
