Qaisar Shah
Qaisar Shah, once filing reports from the field, now celebrates his birthdays with VOA Deewa Radio ON 25TH December, each year, at Washington DC. Before joining VOA Deewa Radio as your broadcaster and producer.
Mr. Shah joined the field of journalism just days before the 9/11 Terrorist attacks, in 2001. During his early days, he started covering international issues on Terrorism. He did interviews with officials and analysts from Pakistan and many Afghan warlords, fleeing refugees and Aid agencies officials and members of the delegation, who tried to convince Taliban not to support al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, days before and after the attack on Taliban government. He interviewed the first victims of War on Terror, who were brought to Hospitals in Peshawar, from the neighboring Afghan Provinces. He has traveled extensively, across the country; northern areas and tribal belt on various journalistic assignments.
After high school, Qaisar Shah attended department of Sociology and Social Anthropology and later, Department of Journalism, at University of Peshawar in NWFP, Pakistan.
Both while an undergraduate and a grad student, Qaisar Shah was active in co-curriculum activities; exhibitions, Literary societies, debates, naat contests and arts fairs. During his early schooling, he won the contest to become the general secretary of the literary club of his institution, for one year. He also remained member of the UNESCO Club of his institution. He represented his institution in essay writing, on provincial level.
He is accredited with certificates of honor and awards, from various organizations and institutions, in recognition of his active role, during his education and professional careers. He was also elected as member governing body of the club of journalists in Peshawar and, was chosen as chairman of a committee of Peshawar Press Club, for one year.
Apart from his career in journalism, he is popular among his friends, for preparing the best Peshawari Qahwa, in Washington. He thinks, he is competitor of Sadaqat Jan and Iftikhar Hussein, as Table Tennis Player, among his colleagues. He loves poetry, soft music and, to keep sleeping, especially, on off days, is one of his preferred hobbies. He wishes, if he could play Rabab/ Guitar.
