People across the eastern United States are coping with a massive winter storm that has dumped up to 40 centimeters of snow in some areas.

The storm has virtually paralyzed air traffic in the cities of New York and Boston while making ground travel treacherous for millions of people.

Chicago's O'Hare Airport, the nation's busiest air hub, had to cancel more than 600 flights Saturday as the storm passed through the midwest.

Blizzard-like conditions continue in parts of the northeast today, while a cold front behind the storm has brought on sub-freezing temperatures made worse by winds gusting up to 85 kilometers per hour.

Despite the conditions, Sunday's National Football League conference championship games will go on as scheduled. Game time temperatures in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are expected to be about 10 degrees below zero Celsius.
