Doctors tend to man injured in explosion

At least 22 people have been killed and dozens injured in a series of apparently coordinated bomb explosions on Indonesia's resort island of Bali.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has condemned the Saturday evening blasts as terrorist acts, and has vowed to bring those responsible to justice.

Explosions were reported near a Four Seasons hotel on Jimbaran beach. At least one blast also was reported at a restaurant in a shopping center in nearby Kuta. And local television said a third set of blasts went off in nearby Nusa Dua.

Kuta was the site of the October 12, 2002 nightclub bombings that killed 202 people, most of them foreigners. At least one Australian and one Japanese citizen are reported among the dead in Saturday's blasts.

In recent months, Indonesia's president has called for increased security, saying September and October seem to be favored months for terrorist attacks.

The Islamic extremist group, Jemaah Islamiyah, claimed credit for the 2002 attack, as well as two others -- an attack in August 2003 that killed 12 people at a Marriott hotel in Jakarta, and another in September 2004 that killed 10 people at Indonesia's Australian embassy.

Australia's prime minister has confirmed that at least one Australian is among the dead.
