An influential Iranian cleric has warned that Iranian missiles will land in Tel Aviv if Israel and the U.S. attack Iran.

Ahmad Khatami told state television Tuesday that Israel should fear the day when Iranian missiles land in the heart of Tel Aviv.

Iran's Shahab-3 missiles have a range of 2,000 kilometers and can reach Tel Aviv and American military installations in the Middle East.

The cleric, who sits on the Assembly of Experts, a supervisory body, also congratulated Hezbollah for what he said was the militia's victory against Israel in Lebanon.

He said Hezbollah's 70-kilometer range missiles had turned Israeli cities into ghosts.

The U.S. and other Western nations fear Iran is seeking to build nuclear weapons, but Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

Iran has said it will continue to enrich uranium despite demands from the West that it cease production.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has also said Israel should be wiped off the map. Israel views Iran as a threat but Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert has said Israel is able to defend itself against Iran.
