The art of kitemaking and flying has been perfected over time. New technologies are now being employed to give kite-lovers better control over their kites.

The annual Smithsonian Kite Festival celebrated the art and history of Chinese kites at this year's event. Kites large and small; kite fliers professional and amateur; Washingtonians as well as visitors from around the world gathered around the Washington Monument to welcome the colorful designs.
