For decades, Ben's Chili Bowl has been the place to eat, meet and greet people on the famous U Street in Washington. Tourists and locals alike come here to eat the half smoke signature sausage and enjoy the original 1950's atmosphere
For decades, Ben's Chili Bowl has been the place to eat, meet and greet people on the famous U Street in Washington.

When people think of the capital of the United States, Washington, D.C. - they usually think of monuments, museums and the White House. But for some, a small family restaurant comes to mind. Ben's Chili Bowl has been open for 50 years and is one of the city's most enduring landmarks. VOA's Ana Ward recently spent an afternoon at the renowned restaurant.
