Nezia Munezero, Tanzania - Central Africa Service
Never in her wildest dreams did Nezia Munezero picture herself working as a VOA intern. Nezia often listened to VOA radio programs with her parents and seven siblings while she was growing up in African refugee camps. Even after moving to the United States with her family at the age of 16, she still remembered the VOA programs to which she listened, saying that they influenced many lives. She became an intern at VOA as a college junior with goals of being a TV news anchor. Of her experience, Nezia says, "You have no idea how amazing it is to grow up listening to VOA, and then to end up here...it's so exciting!"
Andrew Moe, Janesville, WI - Public Affairs and Program Review
Someday, you may have this Arizona State University student as your senator - if all goes according to his plan, that is. As student body president, fraternity brother, tour guide, and office assistant to ASU's president, it seems like most of Andrew's plans are well underway. His most important advice to students is to "take advantage of every opportunity." He assures us that he still does save time for reading (John Grisham), traveling (his favorite place is still Wisconsin), and his friends ("I wouldn't be anywhere without them"). He has loved learning through experience as a VOA intern, and he has particularly enjoyed attending press conferences and contributing to the Agency's efficiency through his work in Program Review. We certainly feel lucky to have him here at VOA, working in not one, but two, of our offices for not one, but two, summers - true Andrew style.
