Learn More About Adoptions in Africa on ‘Africa Journal’

Adopting from Africa has been in the news lately, thanks to celebrity adoptions by American pop singer Madonna and movie actress Angelina Jolie. But there is much more to the story than internationally known parents. Africa has more than 50 countries on the continent, each with its own adoption laws. How do ordinary people find their way through international and domestic laws and regulations to adopt children as part of their families? How may Malawi's laws affect international adoptions in Africa? Tune in Thursday to find out more with Africa Journal host Vincent Makori and his guests: Tom DiFilipo, President and CEO of the Joint Council on International Children's Services; author and motivational speaker Margaret Dureke from JAHS Publishing Group; and Sunduzwayo Madise, a member of the Human Rights Consultative Committee, participating by phone from Malawi.

Africa Journal is broadcast on local television affiliates and via live streaming video on www.VOANews.com. Tune in each week as host Vincent Makori and his guests examine the critical issues and events shaping Africa's political, economic, and social landscape.
