Zimbabwe’s Christian Alliance of church leaders, which emerged in 2005 to provide humanitarian services to the homeless following Harare's Operation Murambatsvina ("Drive Out Rubbish") forced eviction and demolition campaign, said Friday that it is shifting its mission to one of radical advocacy of changes in national policy.

Its new activities will include poverty marches to make the suffering of Zimbabweans more visible, Christian Alliance spokesman Jonathan Gokovah said.

Gokovah told reporter Patience Rusere of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimababwe that it was decided the group could be more effective fighting bad policies than providing aid.
