Africa's Road to Independence from Colonization
By 1963, most countries in Africa were independent nations, free of their colonial past. In the same year, the group that is now the African Union, was organized by Kwame Nkrumah, the first Prime Minister of Ghana and a follower of the African-American scholar W.E.B. Du Bois. Mr Du Bois was a Pan-Africanist who believed in an independent united Africa.
