Music feature writer and American Gold host Doug Levine
came to VOA in 1985 after working at radio stations in
New York, Maryland and Virginia.

Doug has covered the country's top jazz festivals, including JVC New York, Jazz Fest, Monterey, Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Detroit International and Jazz Aspen, as well as folk and blues festivals in Seattle, San Francisco, Memphis, Newport and Telluride.

One of his favorite interviews was with the "Godfather of Soul" James Brown at the Beale Street Blues Festival in Memphis.  "He had just finished an incredible three hour concert without a break," Doug recalls," and his first words were 'I feel good!'"
