In the quarterfinals, Kohlschreiber takes on sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic. Berdych scored a three set win over Britain's Andy Murray (7-6, 4-6, 6-1).

Meanwhile, second seed Dominik Hrbaty of the Czech Republic overcame a first-set loss to defeat Australian wildcard Mark Philippoussis (3-6, 6-4, 6-1).

Hrbaty faces Kenneth Carlsen of Denmark, a three set winner over Croatia's Ivo Karlovic (2-6, 7-6, 6-4).
