A native of Missouri, Victor Morales is Managing Editor of the Focus Unit and has been a journalist with the Voice of America since 1988. For several years, he wrote documentaries and hosted VOA’s premier public affairs talk shows: Encounter and Press Conference USA.
As an analyst in the Office of Program Review, he worked with VOA’s language services, helping them develop their journalistic and broadcast standards. He moderated the agency’s first daily English roundtable discussion on issues in the news for the program VOA Worldwide. And for more than four years, Victor anchored the flagship English news program -- VOA News Now.
A former Fulbright Scholar in Eastern Europe, Victor Morales holds a Master of Arts degree in government from Cornell University. He is a former college wrestler and still coaches and competes in his spare time.
