Turin, Italy, is hosting the Winter Olympic Games. This is the second time Italy serves as host for the Winter Games, the last time was in Cortina D'Ampezzo in 1956. The first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France, in 1924 and featured 16 events.  This year's Winter Olympics will feature 84 medal events.
