At least three people have been killed in separate explosions in Iraq as U.S. and Iraqi forces continue to battle insurgents.

Authorities say at least one person was killed Thursday in an explosion in western Baghdad. Two other people died in an explosion in the northern Iraqi town of Kirkuk.

On Wednesday, violence in parts of Iraq's so-called "Sunni Triangle" left dozens of people dead -- as insurgents reacted to the U. S. military campaign in Fallujah.

In the northern Iraqi city of Baiji, at least 14 people were killed when a suicide bomber rammed his car into a U.S. military convoy. In the city of Ramadi, at least nine people were killed during intense fighting between insurgent forces and U.S. troops.

The fighting came as U.S.-led coalition forces continued their offensive to root out remaining Iraqi insurgents in Fallujah.
