Saudi Arabia's King Fahd remains in a hospital for a third day to undergo more medical tests.

Saudi officials have said the 82-year-old monarch is suffering from a lung infection - possibly pneumonia.

A royal statement on Saturday said the king's health was stable after a first round of what it called necessary medical tests on Friday.

News that the king had been hospitalized sent world oil prices higher. Saudi Arabia is the world's largest oil exporter.

King Fahd's half-brother, Crown Prince Abdullah, has been running the daily affairs of the kingdom since the king suffered a stroke in 1995.
