NASA has changed the Space Shuttle Discovery's landing site to California after bad weather prevented it from touching down at its home base at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The U.S. space agency says the shuttle will have two chances to land Tuesday at Edwards Air Force Base in California's Mojave Desert. Weather there is forecast as clear.
A second alternate landing site also is available Tuesday in New Mexico.
Bad weather Monday over the Kennedy Space Center in eastern Florida forced the shuttle to spend an extra day in orbit.
This is the first space shuttle landing attempt since the shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon re-entry in February 2003, killing all seven astronauts aboard.
Discovery is completing a two week mission to resupply the International Space Station.
