Amr Moussa speaks to the media after meeting Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in Najaf

Arab League chief Amr Moussa says he has won the support of Iraq's top Shi'ite religious authority for a conference to help foster reconciliation among Iraq's ethnic and religious groups.

After a meeting in the Shi'ite holy city of Najaf with Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Mr. Moussa said the cleric gave his blessing for the proposed conference to be held in Egypt.

Sunni Arab leader, Saleh al-Mutlaq said about 80 Iraqi politicians had been invited to the meeting.

Mr. Moussa later traveled to northern Iraq to meet with Kurdish leaders.

In other developments, the head of Iraq's electoral commission, Adil al-Lami said the count is continuing in the constitutional referendum. He said it appears only one province - Salaheddin - has so far rejected the charter, but that final results are still days away.

And the U.S. military says it killed 20 suspected terrorists Saturday during raids of safe houses in western Iraq.
