One dozen war protesters have been arrested near President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, for violating a new ban on camping in the area.

Sheriff's deputies Wednesday detained the protesters after they pitched tents along the roadside near the president's home.  Deputies first warned the demonstrators that they could be arrested for trespassing.  

The protest was timed to coincide with the president's visit to the ranch to celebrate the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.

Among those arrested was Dede Miller, the sister of anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.  Ms. Sheehan is the mother of an American soldier killed in Iraq and came to fame when she held a vigil near the ranch in August.  Ms. Sheehan was not at the latest protest, but was scheduled to arrive in Crawford Friday.

Local officials enacted new limits on roadside camping near the Bush ranch after hundreds of anti-war activists erected a tent-city near the home during the August protest.
