Sweden's Anna Carin Olofsson has won the women's 12.5 kilometer mass-start Olympic biathlon for her second medal at the Turin Winter Games in Italy.

Olofsson missed just one target to complete Saturday's race in 40:36.5 minutes. Earlier in the games, the 32-year-old Olofsson won the silver medal in the women's 7.5 kilometer sprint event. She switched to biathlon after competing in cross-country skiing at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Three-time Olympic champion Kati Wilhelm of Germany (40:55.3) won the silver medal in Saturday's race, finishing 18.8 seconds behind Olofsson.

German star Uschi Disl, the most decorated biathlete in Olympic history, finished in third place for the bronze medal (41:18.4). She has won a total of nine medals over four Olympics.

Biathlon combines cross-country skiing and firing a rifle at targets in both the prone and standing positions. Competitors must ski a penalty loop for each missed target.
