Two prominent Republican U.S. lawmakers have called for change in the way the country reviews foreign investments that involve national security, saying the Bush administration's handling of the Dubai ports deal was flawed.

Republican Susan Collins who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee said Sunday the Department of Homeland Security should be in charge of those reviews. The Treasury Department - through a secretive board - is currently in charge.

Another Republican, Duncan Hunter said President Bush could reverse the approval after he receives a more information about the deal.

Collins and Hunter said on ABC's This Week they were introducing legislation to revamp the review process.

Meanwhile, the chief executive officer of Dubai Ports World, Mohammed Sharaf, said on CNN his company will respond if further reviews identify security measures that need to be taken.
