Palm Sunday celebrations are underway in Jerusalem, marking the start of Easter Holy Week.

The Christian faithful are holding a colorful Palm Sunday procession here in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem's Old City, the traditional site of Jesus crucifixion and resurrection. Priests in red robes are leading the march through a cloud of fragrant incense, followed by pilgrims from around the world. They are waving palm and olive branches, marking Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem nearly 2,000 years ago.

It's a big turnout compared to recent years when Israeli-Palestinian violence scared pilgrims away. But a lull in terrorism has prompted the faithful to return here and retrace the footsteps of Jesus during Easter Holy Week.
