Egyptian police have arrested two men they believe may have driven the suicide bombers in this week's attacks in the Sinai desert.

Egypt's government run news agency (MENA) says one of the men, an Egyptian, drove three Bedouin to the southern Sinai town of Dahab the night before Monday's bombings there. Police believe the other man, a Palestinian, drove suspected bombers to a site in northern Sinai where they attacked a patrol of peacekeepers monitoring the border with Israel.

At least 18 people died in Monday's triple bombings in Dahab.  Only the two suicide bombers died in Wednesday's attacks in northern Sinai.

After the Dahab bombings, police detained at least 30 people, but have not yet identified the bombers.

Egyptian authorities believe this week's attacks are linked to two earlier attacks in southern Sinai resorts.

The Sinai is a popular destination for scuba divers and backpackers.
