United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has met with Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing, as the U.N. leader continues his Asian tour.

Mr. Annan and Mr. Hu discussed U.N. reforms and agreed to work on strengthening multilateral cooperation.

Chinese state media report the two also discussed a variety of international issues including both Iran's and North Korea's nuclear programs.

The secretary-general arrived in China from Japan, where he met with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and other senior leaders.

During a speech to university students in Tokyo Thursday, Mr. Annan expressed frustration over the lack of progress in resolving the dispute over Iran's nuclear program.

The U.N. leader began his Asian tour in Seoul and held talks with South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and other government officials.

During that visit, Mr. Annan called for a resumption of six-nation talks aimed at dismantling North Korea's nuclear program.

The talks involve North and South Korea, the United States, China, Russia and Japan, and have been stalled since November.

Mr. Annan's Asian tour also includes Thailand and Vietnam.
