Forbes
business magazine has named Tom Cruise as the world's most powerful celebrity.

The magazine, in its annual list of the rich and famous, said despite Cruise being lampooned for recent behavior, he claimed the top spot, earning $67 million last year alone.

The magazine described him as Hollywood's most "bankable star."

Cruise, whose recent movies include War of the Worlds and Mission Impossible III, was the butt of jokes after an appearance on an Oprah Winfrey show, when he jumped on a couch and proclaimed his love for actress Katie Holmes.

In the Forbes' list, the Rolling Stones came in second, followed by American television personality Oprah Winfrey, the band U2, and golfer Tiger Woods.
