Battles are raging across southern Lebanon, as Israel continues its four-week land and air offensive against Hezbollah guerrillas.

Near Sidon, north of the Litani River, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 14 villagers Tuesday. The strikes took place in Ghaziyeh as mourners buried relatives who died from an earlier Israeli strike.

Israel resumed airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold, while rescue workers pulled at least 13 more bodies from buildings reduced to rubble by Israeli strikes on Monday.

The Israeli army says three of its soldiers died today and five were wounded in fighting in southern Lebanon. Israel says its forces killed 15 Hezbollah guerrillas near the town of Bint Jbail.

Israel also dropped leaflets warning residents of Tyre and areas further south that it will strike any vehicle traveling south of the Litani River.

In other news, Hezbollah fired some 150 rockets at northern Israel today, wounding at least two people.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says a meeting on Wednesday of his security cabinet will decide whether Israel expands its offensive by pushing further north.

Since July 12, when Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid, at least 900 Lebanese and 100 Israelis have died in the violence between Israel and Hezbollah.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
