President Musharraf commuted Hussain's death sentence Thursday, making the Briton eligible for release because of the time he had already served on death row.
The 36-year-old Hussain, a British national of Pakistani descent, spent the past 18 years in prison for killing a taxi driver in 1988.
Britain's Prince Charles and Prime Minister Tony Blair both pressed Pakistan to free Hussain, who says the killing was in self-defense and that he was the victim of a miscarriage of justice.
