Mexican President Felipe Calderon kicks off a six-day trip to Europe Thursday to help boost his country's economy.
Mr. Calderon's first stop is in Berlin, where he will hold talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. He will also travel to Switzerland to attend the Davos World Economic Forum. Officials say he will meet with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and World Trade Organization director-general Pascal Lamy during the summit.
Embarking on his first trip to Europe since taking office in December, the Mexican president will also meet with his counterparts in Britain and Spain.
Mexican officials say Mr. Calderon will highlight his government's recent crackdown on organized crime and drug trafficking. They say it has created a more secure and stable environment for attracting foreign investment.
