'Disturbia' Still Tops US Box Office Sales

23 April 2007

The crime thriller Disturbia continues to rule the U.S. box office, taking in $13.5 million last weekend.

The peeping tom drama, starring Shia LaBeouf as a housebound teenager who suspects a neighbor of murder, edged out Anthony Hopkins' psychological thriller Fracture.  It debuted in second place with $11.2 million.

Overall U.S. movie attendance is up 2.4 percent over last year, with studio executives confident of a healthy summer season.

On the way are such warm-weather blockbusters as Spider-Man 3, Shrek The Third, and  Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
