Afghan security officials say three Taleban commanders who were released in exchange for an Italian hostage were killed by U.S.-led forces last week.

Officials say the senior Taleban members died in the same Saturday raid that killed their top commander Mullah Dadullah in southern Afghanistan.

Afghan authorities say the three included a brother of Dadullah - Mullah Shah Mansoor (and two other commanders, Mullah Hamdullah and Mullah Ghafar).

The three senior Taleban members were among five freed by Afghan authorities in return for Italian journalist Daniele Mastrogiacomo, who was kidnapped by Dadullah's men in March.

In another development, the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan says a coalition soldier has died from wounds suffered in an attack by militants earlier this week in Zabul province.  The nationality of the soldier was not released.

A coalition statement says the soldier was part of a team of Afghan and coalition troops that had provided medical assistance to 600 Afghans in Kandahar province.

At least 50 foreign troops have been killed in Afghanistan this year, about half of them Americans.
