New York City is tightening security in reaction to the bomb scare in London Friday.

City officials said police officers are providing extra security in highly-trafficked areas and extending their shifts to last through the evening rush hour.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on U.S. radio Friday that security will be increased but, in his words, it will be "nothing dramatic." He said the New York City police department has a full-time officer stationed in London who will provide New York officials with updates.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff released a statement saying U.S. officials are closely monitoring the situation, but have seen nothing so far connecting the incident in London to a threat in the United States.
