Matt Damon has received his own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

The 36-year-old film star - who says he and his friend Ben Affleck once shared a modest apartment not far from the landmark - was the guest of honor at a July 25 ceremony. Also in attendance were his wife, mother, and a throng of screaming fans.

"A few times in my life I've had these experiences that are just kind of too big to process and this looks like it's going to be one of those times," he said. He then expressed thanks that his hometown Boston Red Sox baseball team was currently in first place.

Damon, who shared a 1998 screenwriting Oscar with Affleck for "Good Will Hunting," will star in the upcoming thriller "The Bourne Ultimatum." The third installment in the popular "Bourne" series opens August 3 in the United States.
