The International Cricket Council has cleared Zimbabwe Cricket financial misfeasance, though a forensic audit by a leading accounting firm found some irregularities.

The forensic report by KPMG South Africa "highlighted serious financial irregularities, the ICC board announced, "but found no evidence of criminality and that no individuals had gained financially." The ICC board said Zimbabwe Cricket had "taken substantial remedial action to correct these irregularities and would continue to do so."

Some remained skeptical as to the probity of Zimbabwe Cricket management, though.

Clive Fields, a former representative of Zimbabwean cricket players, told reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye of VOA's Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that Zimbabwe Cricket had ample time to sanitize its accounts since the probe began three years ago.

Elsewhere, some cricket-watchers believe Zimbabwe may benefit from new leadership at the International Cricket Council, which has offered the top job to South Africa’s Imitiaz Patel who would take over from Malcolm Speed in June. Patel, now CEO of Supersport South Africa, said he has taken the offer under consideration 

Cricket analyst Brian Goredema said Zimbabwe Cricket stands to benefit if Patel takes the job given the cordial relations between the two African nations.
