American beach volleyballers Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers have made history by winning the men's gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Dalhausser and Rogers beat the Brazilian team of Fabio and Marcio 23-21, 17-21, 15-4. Combined with Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh's win in the women's competition, the victory made the Beijing games the first time a country has won both crowns at a single Olympics.

Maris Strombergs of Latvia and Anne-Caroline Chausson of France won the first ever BMX  (bicycle moto-cross) Olympic gold medals.

Italy's Alex Schwazer won the men's 50-kilometer walk gold medal in 3:37:09.  In the men's 1,000-meter K-1 kayak, Britain's Tim Brabants won the gold.  Hungary's Attila Vajda won the gold in the men's 1,000-meter single canoe event.

Also in the canoe-kayak venue, Germany won the gold in the women's 500-meter kayak four.  Germany's Martin Hollstein and Andreas Ihle won gold in the men's K-2 1000-meter race.

Belarus took home two golds in canoe-kayak, winning both the men's 1000-meter kayak four and the men's C-2 canoe doubles gold medals.

Later in athletics, Jamaica's Usain Bolt will try to capture his third gold medal of the games in the 4x100-meters relay.  Bolt won the 100 and the 200-meters title and set new world records in both events.
