Afghan officials say international soldiers have survived a suicide bombing in the capital of Kabul.

They say the bomber blew up his explosive-filled vehicle Saturday, but failed to inflict any casualties on the troops or nearby civilians.

Meanwhile, the U.S.-led coalition says its forces killed several militants in clashes and airstrikes in Kapisa province, not far from Kabul.

Officials say the fighting took place Friday, and that airstrikes were called in after coalition forces came under attack.

Earlier, officials said Afghan and U.S. forces killed at least 12 militants after an attack on a coalition base in the Shahidi Hassas district of southern Uruzgan province on Thursday.

The coalition also said its forces killed another 12 militants while on patrol in eastern Paktika province.

U.S. officials say troops came under attack while looking for militants who were transporting foreign fighters from neighboring Pakistan.
