Three skydivers in Nepal entered the record books Sunday as they made the first ever parachute jump over Mount Everest.

One of the daredevil adventurers, Britain's Holly Budge, told the French news agency the view during the jump was "just spectacular."

The two other skydivers hailed from Canada and New Zealand.

Trip organizers say the three are among 32 thrill seekers from several countries who traveled to the Everest region to make the jump from a plane over the world's highest summit.  

Organizers say the jumpers are using oxygen masks, along with parachutes that are much larger than normal to help them cruise and descend through the thin, freezing air.

The skydivers experience nearly a minute of free-fall before opening their chutes and landing at a flat drop zone.

New Zealand's Edmund Hillary and Nepal's Tenzing Norgay were the first to successfully climb Mount Everest's 8,850-meter peak 55 years ago.
