Iraqi security officials say bombings have killed at least four people and wounded more than 29 others in attacks in several parts of the country.
In
the deadliest incident, officials said a suicide car bomber killed
three people when he targeted a police patrol in Anbar province, west
of the capital, Baghdad Thursday. They said at least one police officer
was among those killed.
In Baghdad, police said a bomb attached to a minibus exploded Thursday, killing at least one person and wounding seven others.
Meanwhile
in western Iraq, the U.S. military said a civilian cargo aircraft
crashed shortly after take-off Thursday with four to six crew members on
board.
The
military said it does not know the fate of the passengers or the
aircraft, which reported a malfunction while traveling near the city of
Fallujah.
Also
Thursday, officials said a roadside bomb wounded six people at a police
patrol in central Baghdad, while a parked car bomb wounded at least 16
others in the northern city of Mosul.
Last
month Iraqi and U.S. officials noted that violence had dropped to a
four-year low, but attacks have become more frequent in the last two
weeks.
