A suicide car bomb has exploded outside a government compound in eastern Afghanistan.

Authorities say the blast in Khost province killed at least two people, including the bomber, and wounded several more, including two NATO soldiers. Civilians were also wounded, but there are conflicting reports about the casualty figures.

Security officials say the attacker drove his car packed with explosives up to the gate of a district government office in Domanda and detonated after police stopped him.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

U.S.-led NATO forces have been battling in eastern Afghanistan for months against groups of Afghan and Pakistani militants, including the Taliban and foreign fighters linked to al-Qaida.
