Pop Star Madonna's Divorce Finalized

A London court has granted pop star Madonna and British film director Guy Ritchie an uncontested divorce.

Neither party attended Friday's brief court proceedings.  They were not legally required to do so.

Details of the terms of the split have not been made public.  However, British media report that Madonna was able to hold on to her nearly half-billion-dollar fortune because Ritchie did not seek alimony.

British newspapers also report the couple's two sons:  eight-year-old Rocco and three-year-old David - will likely divide their time between their parents in Britain and New York.

Madonna's daughter from a previous relationship, Lourdes, will continue to live with her mother.

Madonna and Ritchie announced in October they were divorcing after eight years of marriage.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
