A U.S. federal appeals court has upheld the convictions of three men who were sentenced for the 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa.

The Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday that the men did receive a fair trial.

Four men were convicted in 2001 for the August 7, 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The attacks killed 224 people - most of them Africans - and wounded thousands. 12 Americans also were killed.

One of the four defendants later withdrew his appeal.

The bombings are attributed to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist network. Bin Laden remains under indictment for the attacks.
