The sandy brown Quagga Zebra (pronounced qua-ha) was hunted to extinction more than 100 years ago. But when scientists learned it was not a unique species but a subspecies of the Plains Zebra, the Quagga Project was started by South African Reinhold Rau to bring the animal back.
