Stephanie Ho is VOA bureau chief in Beijing, her second assignment in the Chinese capital. Prior to her most recent assignment in China, Ms. Ho was a general assignment correspondent based in the VOA newsroom in Washington DC. While in Washington, she covered political, cultural and economic stories for radio, television and the Internet. She previously spent five years (1995-2000) as a VOA correspondent in Beijing, where she reported from around China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mongolia. Stephanie started at the Voice of America as an intern in late 1991. She left briefly to attend film school in London, in 2000. Although she didn’t finish, she has always wanted to be a film school dropout, so now she’s living one of her dreams. Stephanie was born in Ohio and grew up in California. She has a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies, with an emphasis on Chinese history and economics, from the University of California at Berkeley. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
