Jim Malone began his career working at radio stations in Massachusetts. He served in the United States Peace Corps in Swaziland from 1979-1981. Jim joined VOA's English to Africa service in 1983. He served as VOA's East Africa correspondent based in Nairobi from 1986-1990. He was also part of VOA's Gulf War coverage team in 1991. Jim was VOA's Congressional correspondent from 1990-1995. He later became National Correspondent and served for a while as Assignments Chief. Among his favorite things to cover: U.S. presidential campaigns, U.S. party conventions and explaining U.S. domestic issues to international listeners. Jim's favorite thing to do when not working: fly fishing.
