As part of VOA Hindi TV's collaboration with Aaj Tak, which claims an audience of 30 million households in India, Niharika has also covered major news events including U.S. presidential elections, the 9/11 anniversaries, annual UN General Assembly sessions and important meetings between the leaders of India and the U.S. including President Bush’s meeting with the current and former Prime Ministers of India. She traveled to Pakistan to cover a landmark meeting between Indian and Pakistani leaders, which reopened peace talks between the two countries.

The recipient of VOA's Superior Accomplishment Award, Niharika joined the Hindi Service in 2003, after seven years of television anchoring, reporting and production experience with NDTV, among India's leading TV news channels. She studied Television Production and Political Science from the prestigious Mass Communication Research Center and Lady Sri Ram College in New Delhi, graduating at the top of her class.

Born in the tiny hamlet of Sarahan in northern India, Niharika has lived and traveled all across India and now travels throughout the United States in search of different stories. She says, “travel widens one’s horizons, provides perspective, and gives insight” which she finds helpful in her journalistic responsibilities of accurately covering various aspects of US-India relations and in choosing the right mix of stories for "Duniya", each week.
