Deepak worked as an anchor and special correspondent with the 24 hour TV news channel 'Zee News' in India before joining VOA Hindi as a TV Reporter/Correspondent. For VOA, Deepak reports for the weekly news and current affairs program 'Duniya' aired on India's leading TV news channel 'Aaj Tak' and also reports for VOA Hindi Radio contributes as fill in host for the weekly call in shows "Hello India" and "Hello America."

Throughout his 10 years of broadcast journalism experience, Deepak has reported from the thick of the largest democratic electoral exercise in the world, providing live, in-depth coverage of developing political scandals, terrorist strikes and natural disasters. Deepak has also reported extensively on the India and Pakistan peace process, including Indian Prime Minister Atal Beehari Vajpayee's historic bus journey to Lahore in February 1999 following the resumption of bus service between both countries since independence. Likewise, Deepak also traveled to Pakistan in 2004 to cover its cricket team preparations before the first cricket matches between India and Pakistan in 14 years.
Deepak's political coverage has also been groundbreaking. In 2003, Deepak exposed a sensational political scandal where newly elected members of the legislative assembly were bribed to switch sides on the eve of forming of new government in Chattisgarh. He also exposed political corruption involving illegal mining activities in Madhya Pradesh.
As a TV anchor, Deepak hosted a number of live shows and interviewed many influential newsmakers from all walks of life including former prime minister Atal Beehari Vajpayee, the worlds fastest bowler Shoiab Akhtar, former Pakistani Cricket Captain Waseem Akram, and renowned film personalities Ameer Khan and Heema Malini.
Apart from reporting, Deepak has worked behind the camera as producer for a wide variety of shows, including a two-hour morning show Aaj Subah. Deepak began his career as a trainee for India's first privately produced TV news bulletin 'Aaj Tak', moving on to other leading TV channels of India. He was also part of a documentary on 'Mahakumbh' that won the prestigious Royal Television Society Award.
A physics major from University of Delhi, Deepak was born in the Himalayan town of Mussoorie and has traveled extensively throughout India and neighboring Asian countries. He now resides in Falls Church, Virginia with his wife Surabhi and four year old daughter Kuhu.
