Mobile VCT at HIV/AIDS camp

OSSA (Organization for Social
Service for AIDS) nongovernmental organization starts Mobile VCT (Voluntary,
Counseling and Test) of HIV/AIDS campaign nationwide.
Romha Hailslasie deputy manager of the organization, in its
Mekelle branch, told VOA “We are providing the service in 11 sites in Mekelle
like in bus station, Market places and University. As of January, 2306 people
have taken the service voluntarily in which 82 of them are tested HIV
positive.”
The campaign will be extended
to all Tigrai towns and Shimelba Eritrean refugee camp in the near time.
In Ethiopia, normally VCT service
provides in health centers. This Mobile VCT is becoming more convenient to all as
to the interviewee saying that they are having it in their vicinity.
Today in Mekelle market places,
Girmay Gebru talked to nurses on service and some people who have been tested.
Currently, 1.3 million people
in Ethiopia 70,000 of them in Tigrai are living with HIV/AIDS according to the
ministry of health of the country.
