Minneapolis Holds "Run for Oromia"

Run for Oromia Runner

On July 29, 2007, the city of Minneapolis, MN is hosting the first ever "Run for Oromia."

The race is designed to raise awarness about the plight of Oromos living in Ethiopia and about the Mecha and Tullema Development Association's prisoners, says the sponsor and coordinator of the race Obbo Mike Abebe.

This international 5k and 10k race, which already has been recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), will reward the total amount of $50,000 to the top 5 racers for both female and male athletes .

Top Ethiopian athletes and various world-class athletes are expected to participate in this competition.
