Prime Minister Hun Sen said Tuesday he would seek $300
million in aid from China
on an upcoming visit.
"I need more than $300 million," Hun Sen said. "I will go to
meet His Excellency Wen Jiabao, and I will ask on this issue."
Hun Sen will meet Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on a scheduled
visit to China
Oct. 24.
China has
emerged as the No. 4 aid donor to Cambodia, and its investments are
the second-most in the country.
"Do not pray for China
to be poor," the premier told a conference gathered in Phnom
Penh to discuss Asia's role in
global economics. "Pray for China
to be rich, not as a threat to anyone, but on the contrary, that China
will intervene to help."
