미국산 쇠고기 수입 재개 문제로 개원이 미뤄진 한국 국회가 오는 10일 정상화됩니다.

한나라당과 민주당은 8일 국회에서 회담을 갖고 10일 제18대 국회를 개원하기로 했습니다.

여야는 가축전염병 예방법 개정과 관련해 추가협상 내용과 국민적 요구, 국익을 고려해 개정하기로 했습니다. 여야는 또 미국산 쇠고기 수입재개 국정조사를 실시하기로 했습니다.

South Korea's opposition has agreed to end its boycott of the legislature over the government's policies regarding U.S. beef imports.

Lawmakers from the ruling Grand National Party reached a compromise agreement with the opposition Democratic Party today (Tuesday) to restart meetings this Thursday.

The two sides agreed to revise a livestock epidemic law to reflect public concerns over U.S. beef safety. They also agreed to investigate the government's decision to reopen markets to U.S. beef.

The move came a day after South Korean President Lee Myung-bak fired three top ministers. Thousands of South Koreans have been protesting since Mr. Lee's government agreed to lift a ban on U.S. beef imports in April.
